Key takeaways
  • Poland had the lowest unemployment on my list in July 2026: 3.4%.
  • Most employers get a work permit for you; the EU Blue Card needs at least 150% of the previous year's average wage.
  • Kraków, Warsaw and Wrocław have large tech and business service hubs that work in English.
  • Salaries are lower than in Western Europe, but so is the cost of living.

Poland is one of Europe's fastest growing job markets for international professionals, thanks to the many global companies that run tech, finance and shared service centres there. It can also be a stepping stone: EU experience makes later moves within Europe easier.

The permits

  • Work permit. The employer applies to the regional authority (voivode), then you apply for a work visa and later a temporary residence and work permit.
  • EU Blue Card. The salary must be at least 150% of the average national salary of the previous year. In 2025 that meant PLN 12,272.58 gross a month (Crido). The figure is updated every year.

Where the English speaking jobs are

  • Kraków: one of the largest business service and IT hubs in Europe.
  • Warsaw: finance, consulting and headquarters roles.
  • Wrocław, Gdańsk and Poznań: growing tech and shared service centres.

Where to find jobs

  • Pracuj.pl, the biggest Polish job site.
  • LinkedIn for international companies' tech and service centres.
  • Career pages of global firms with Polish hubs.

Step by step from India

  1. Check your degree. Have your degree and transcripts ready, and check recognition early. Read my degree recognition guide; the same documents are useful everywhere in Europe.
  2. Rebuild your CV in the European format. Two pages, results, keywords from each ad. See the European CV guide.
  3. Search where Polish employers post. Pracuj.pl plus LinkedIn and company career pages. My local job portals guide explains why this matters.
  4. Contact 3 to 4 people per company. Hiring manager, a team member, the recruiter and someone with a shared background. See the networking guide.
  5. Get the contract first, then the permit. In most cases your employer starts or supports the permit process. Never pay anyone for a job offer.
  6. Resign in India only after approval. Wait until your permit or visa is granted before you hand in your notice.
