- Platsbanken matters more in Sweden than job boards do elsewhere: jobs must be advertised there for ten days before a non-EU hire.
- A first work permit needs at least 90% of the median salary since 1 June 2026.
- Combine Platsbanken, LinkedIn, The Hub and company career pages.
- Many Swedish ads are in English, especially in tech.
Sweden has one rule that makes its official job bank more important than in most countries: before an employer hires someone from outside the EU, the job must be advertised on the portal of the Swedish Public Employment Service for at least ten days. So Platsbanken is not optional. Here is where I would search, and how.
The best job sites in Sweden

| EURES | Official (EU) | Swedish jobs advertised across Europe |
| Network | International companies, recruiters and English speaking teams | |
| Indeed Sweden | Private | Volume and daily alerts |
| The Hub | Specialist | Nordic startups, many of them hiring in English |
| Academic Work | Staffing | Graduates and young professionals |
| Company career pages | Direct | Large employers such as Spotify, Ericsson and Volvo Group |
Before you apply: the work permit in one paragraph
Since 1 June 2026, a first Swedish work permit needs a salary of at least 90% of the median salary in Sweden. The EU Blue Card needs at least SEK 53,625 a month, and Blue Cards can now run for up to four years. The employer must have advertised the job in Sweden and the EU for at least ten days before you apply (Swedish Migration Agency).

How to use these sites well
- Search Platsbanken in English and Swedish. Many ads are written in English. Also try Swedish titles, for example utvecklare (developer) or ingenjör (engineer), and filter for Stockholm, Gothenburg or Malmö.
- Check the salary early. If the offered salary is below 90% of the median, the permit will fail, however good the job is.
- Use The Hub for startups. Startups often write the ad in English and move fast.
- Apply on the company site when you can. Large Swedish employers run their own career pages and applicant systems.
- Follow up on LinkedIn. A short message to the recruiter after you apply makes a difference. See my networking guide.
For other countries, see local job portals in Europe, and read why applications get rejected before you send the next one.
