  • Registering does not give any right to a visa or permit.

You may have seen headlines about an "EU Talent Pool". It is real, but it is often misunderstood. Here is what it is.

What it is

The EU Talent Pool is an EU wide online platform to match job seekers who live outside the EU with employers in participating EU countries, especially for shortage occupations. The regulation was published in May 2026 and applies from 1 June 2026, although the platform does not have to be running on that date (JD Supra, EUR-Lex).

What it is not

  • It is not a visa. Registration does not give you any right to enter or live in the EU.
  • It is not compulsory for EU countries. Each country decides whether to take part.
  • It does not replace national permits. You still need a job offer and a permit under national law.

What to do now

  1. Keep applying directly. Job boards and company career pages remain the main route.
  2. Get your documents ready. CV, degree recognition and language certificates help on any platform.
  3. Watch the official EU pages. Register only on official EU or government sites, never through paid agents.

Common questions

Is the EU Talent Pool open now?

The regulation applies from 1 June 2026, but the platform can launch later. Check the official EU pages.

Does registering give me a visa?

No. You still need a job offer and a national permit.

Which countries take part?

Participation is voluntary, so it depends on each EU country.
